Links are more valuable when they're used sparingly.

"SEO doesn't require web design." In order to get the most out of SEO as possible, high-end web design is required. Search engines, Google and otherwise, have become more focused on how well a website performs in addition to the content that it provides. Let's say that your site isn't responsive, meaning that it isn't easily read on smartphones like it is on computers. This can actually hurt matters from an SEO standpoint, which is one of the reasons why web design plays a huge role in the matter.
